If there is ever a time to stay calm, it is now. If there is ever a time to take control of your own welfare, it is now. If there is ever a time to believe in yourself, it is now.
You don’t need me to point out the troubles we are seeing across the world; they are clear for all to see and hopefully getting clearer by the day. Most countries are experiencing the same things right now, no matter what side of politics drives the county or what approach the politicians take for the good of its citizens. But what is abundantly clear is that none are worth believing and none are working on our behalf.
And isn’t It interesting that those on very hefty pay packets, buying multimillion dollar houses and living high up and far away from the reality on the ground – whether in politics or running the businesses that are squeezing us all to death, are the ones that are telling us what to do and how to do it, for our own good no less!
But to what end? If you have the stomach, have a look at this century and the selfishness that has infiltrated all lives and the uncertainties presented to the new generations. If that is too much, just look at the last 6 years - covid / lockdowns / 3 reported wars, but many more, more than at any time since WWII / millions killed and displaced / countless interest rate rises / countless bankruptcies / inflation / the rich getting richer, the poor poorer / fear and loathing and hatred, all of it creating the worst economic conditions for 100 year (sounds like a good time for me to set up a small business)! And know, no matter what our leaders tell us, that the next 6 years looks as if they will be exactly the same, if not worse – after all, who is going to stop the madness, certainly not the 3 madmen running it all.
The upshot, we see the greed, selfishness, anxiety and despising freely flowing through everything, impacting all our basics needs, especially the essentials of feeling safe, having access to food, clothing, shelter and medicine, all of which we now rely heavily on others to provide for us.
Maybe creating our own clothing is the easiest one on the list to accommodate (ignoring the difficulties of making the fabrics) but knowing how to grow your own food and cook it – both skills quickly being lost, is viable for everyone.
Connection to the basics of food, to the earth and community are availed to all no matter how big or small your shelter is and helps isolated us in many ways from the terrors of the current conditions, provides happiness and creates a healthy lifestyle that is far more productive than our number one pursuit of working to shop.
I note with joy that seed sales are skyrocketing which is a great sign that people are coming to their senses, but head the covid warning, the lockdown lesson, as soon as a disaster passes people slip back to the old, disastrous rhythm, pushed by politicians and business to get back out on the roads, back into the offices and to work, work, work so that we can all buy, buy, buy!

Who to believe in? Yourself. Who to rely on? Yourself. Who to trust? Yourself!
So, keep it up and grow your own, not just to fill you up at dinner time, but to help stay calm, connect with the earth, embrace mother nature and marvel at a world full of giving life.
With 3 men, all criminals under the law, running our lives and setting our destinies, it is time to reflect on ourselves and our own actions and abilities. If you have experienced any failures or disappointments in the garden, don’t give up, learn and rejoice from the wins and know that this is your life under your direction.
Enjoy
Peter
