Citrus trees are very thirsty and always hungry, so they need to be regularly fed and watered. However, everything in moderation, not too much of anything at one time and don’t let them sit in pools of water, the soil needs to be well-drained.
I feed the few that I have – it’s a bit cold up here for them, but that is changing, and I am seeing some success with the new orange tree I have, every month and every three months I add good quality planting mix to help rejuvenate the soil.
But with citrus it really is a fine balance and too much of a good thing can shock them, so yes water and feed, but not too much of either at any one time, it is best to add small amounts regularly, rather than a lot infrequently.
If the tree is yellow or discoloured, it will probably shed the old leaves once fed, as it will if it has been dehydrated and you water it. In general citrus trees do not recover leaves, they are more likely to replace them where the old ones were.
So, the tips are -
Have the tree in a location with good drainage
And plenty of sun
Keep them hydrated
Feed regular with small amounts of fertiliser, just a small handful
Finally, clear away any dead, dying or discoloration leaves or branches as you see them

It may sound like a lot, but it’s about rhythm and in the end, it really is worth it.
Enjoy
