The year surges forward and October is here, along with more sun, warmth and work in the garden.
Below is a guide to some of the crops you can grow this month, remembering that every location and garden has its own microclimate.
And why not use the start of the month as a trigger to give your garden a feed of compost and matured manure. It is better for the garden to get regular small feeds than irregular big feeds, enabling the microbes to constantly graze, rather than gorge and starve, gorge and starve. It is also a little easier on the gardener, to just sprinkle a handful every square meter, rather than getting the wheelbarrow and shovel out.
It is certainly heating up and there is plenty to do.
Enjoy!
